RAG Meetings 2024
8 February 2024 (13:00-14:00)
In our February meeting, we were joined by a provider who was part of the early adopters pilot as part of the rollout of the Single Assessment Framework. They shared their account of the end-to-end experience of their inspection and assessment, including the on-site inspection, evidence requests and scoring in the reports.
This meeting was a chance to learn more about what to expect from an inspection under the new framework, and ask any questions you may have.
The notes from the meeting can be found here.
7 March 2024 (13:00-14:00)
In March, the Regulatory and Governance Group hosted a ‘Single Assessment Framework First-Aid clinic’. The meeting shone light on the Care Quality Commission’s new assessment system and was a chance for members to ask questions to Care England’s legal partners, Anthony Collins Solicitors.
Meeting notes and slide deck can be accessed via the hyperlinks.
4 April 2024 (13:00-14:00)
On 4 April, Care England welcomed Chris Day, Director of Engagement, and Samuel Wallace, Provider Engagement Lead, at the Care Quality Commission (CQC), to the monthly Regulatory and Governance Group meeting to discuss the Single Assessment Framework. Chris and Sam presented to the group on: the CQC’s current approach and myth-busting; what issues they are aware of and what needs to change; and what the future holds. Care England then chaired a 30 minute discussion where Chris and Sam took questions from members on macro issues associated with the Single Assessment Framework.
The presentation slides can be accessed here, and the meeting notes can be accessed here.
2 May 2024 (13:00-14:00)
Following membership meetings where we’ve heard from one of the early adopters of the Single Assessment Framework, legal support to help providers prepare, and CQC about how they’re responding to provider feedback, our May meeting was a chance to hear more from care providers about their experiences of the Single Assessment Framework.
Notes from the meeting can be viewed here. Slides from our guests can be found through the following links: Care UK, Shaw Healthcare, Barchester.
6 June 2024 (13:00-14:00)
June’s Regulatory and Governance Group meeting (Thursday 6, 13:00-14:00), looked at the current regulatory landscape, and the work Care England has done to address the concerns raised by providers. There was the opportunity for members to raise what further support they’d like from Care England at an operational level (such as tangible resources for frontline staff), and a strategic level (such as system-wide reform). This brainstorming session helped set Care England’s forthcoming regulatory agenda and was a chance for providers to ensure their priorities are addressed. Members were encouraged to come to the meeting with suggestions of ways Care England can support them and their organisations as the Single Assessment Framework continues its rollout.
Notes from the meeting can be viewed here, and presentation slides can be viewed here.
4 July 2024 (13:00-14:00)
July’s meeting focused on clinical governance, with input from two providers who shared their experiences with clinical governance and support from Anthony Collins to look at how clinical governance interacts with the Single Assessment Framework.
Presentation slides from Carolien Cosh, Managing Director of Clifton Homecare can be found here, and slides from Sue Buxton, Commercial and Compliance Manager at Majesticare and Mirko Ridolfo, Clinical and Operations Manager at Majesticare can be found here. 5 September 2024 (13:00-14:00)
In the Regulatory & Governance Group September meeting, we we joined by Tim Coolican, Solicitor at Anthony Collins, to discuss the Dr. Dash report’s implications for the Care Quality Commission (CQC) regulatory approach. Tim covered the CQC’s intended actions and potential future changes, with a focus on areas where providers may want to influence the direction of these developments. Discussions followed about the Single Assessment Framework (SAF), its transparency, and how it might be simplified to ensure clearer, more consistent scoring criteria for providers.
