Care England and Hempsons are proud to announce the launch of a comprehensive toolkit designed to assist social care providers in navigating the Care Quality Commission’s (CQC) single assessment framework (SAF).

Philippa Doyle, Head of Social Care at Hempsons, said “social care providers consistently deliver high-quality care under often pressurised circumstances. The strength of these services lies in the dedication and compassion of the staff. However, many providers struggle to comprehensively document their excellent work, leading to ratings that do not accurately reflect the quality of care provided. This often results from inadequate record-keeping or uncertainty about the evidence needed for inspections.”

The new toolkit aims to demystify the SAF and provide a clear guide to navigating each of the 34 quality statements (QS) effectively. It helps providers understand what the CQC is looking for and how each QS relates to the fundamental standards of care regulations. By reflecting on compliance and identifying the necessary evidence, providers can showcase their services in the best possible light and secure ratings that truly represent the quality of care they deliver.

Professor Martin Green OBE, Chief Executive of Care England, said, “Care England is thrilled to be collaborating with Hempsons on this innovative new product designed to assist adult social care providers in navigating the single assessment framework. We simply cannot wait for the CQC to provide the level of support care providers need to meet the requirements of the Single Assessment Framework. This comprehensive toolkit aims to simplify the evidence-gathering process, ensuring providers can confidently demonstrate how they deliver the highest quality of care to CQC Inspectors and those writing the reports and from the positive feedback received, are confident all care providers will find this resource invaluable in enhancing their services and meeting regulatory requirements effectively.”

Care England and Hempsons recommend that every service maintains a dynamic action plan focused on continuous learning, development, and improvement. This toolkit is designed to be flexible, allowing providers to work through it at their own pace. The toolkit helps providers to identify the evidence needed to present to the CQC and tailor their documentation to meet QS requirements, ensuring they are well-prepared for inspections and assessments.
