On 14 December, Care England hosted a webinar with Care Friends to provide Local Authorities and ICBs the opportunity to explore an avenue that could be utilised to increase workforce capacity and, in turn, support discharge of individuals out of hospital.
As part of Our Plan for Patients, Therese Coffey announced a £500m Adult Social Care Discharge Fund with the intent to free up beds in hospitals, using the expert services offered by care providers to support this. As part of the funding, it has been indicated that Local Authorities and Integrated Care Boards will have the ability to spend money on recruitment and retention initiatives that would help support hospital discharge.
As a recruitment channel, Care Friends is unique in both creating long term recruitment infrastructure which continues to deliver year after year, as well as reaching out to those many high potential candidates in the local community who are not actively job seeking. We know our workforce are best placed to identify prospective care staff with the values employers seek. Care Friends empowers them to do just that – and earn meaningful, regular bonuses for both recruiting and achievements at work.
Care England has teamed up with Care Friends, an app that has proven to be the most successful solution to improve recruitment and retention in social care at less than half the cost of traditional recruitment methods, helping to make the money available go further. We believe that Local Authorities and ICBs should take into consideration how they can allocate funding from the Adult Social Care Discharge Fund to support providers in using the Care Friends App.
