Overview of session:
In 2015 BT announced they will be switching off their ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network) and PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) services, which will result in traditional landline connections ceasing and voice calls in the future needing to be made over IP.
Care homes will need to ensure they have a suitable broadband and telephony service in place and activated prior to the switchover to avoid a complete loss of phone service.
It is imperative that care homes are prepared well in advance due to infrastructure degradation, reduced engineers and geographical areas migrating earlier than others.
If you have other systems connected to your phone line, such as intruder and lift alarms, telecare systems, Emergency Red Phones. Epos machines, CCTV, or even some half-hourly electricity meters, then they’ll stop working too.
Our session will cover:
- Recent update announcements
- The switchover explained
- Implications for your care home
- What is replacing this and the benefits
- Ensuring you are prepared
- Questions from the care sector
- and much more
